Batiment SogebrasThe SOGEBRAS’ Finnish concept warehouses recently built on the General Cargo and Containers Terminal will allow the group to carry out new activities and develop ahead its cargo flow at import-export trade.

SOGEBRAS Company will open one of the two warehouses at the beginning of December on the Montoir’s port.

•    A logistic platform to develop its traffic

“We are specialised in all the spectrum of harbour jobs’: shipping agency, deposit, handling, duties... The logistic platform that is being built on the TMDC will allow us to provide our customers all port facilities”: Johann Feltgen, SOGEBRAS Montoir’s agency manager at St Nazaire, is satisfied with this achievement.
We have brought this project to a successful conclusion. The Process started two years ago and after some talks regarding the issue of the fields choice and availability since they are port authorities belonging.
Two warehouses of 3000m2 each are being built on 22 500m2 of ground. “The first one should be in use at the beginning of December and the second one at the end of the year” said Johann Feltgen while explaining the innovative concept of the structure. Of Finnish making, made to resist to extreme weather conditions, the structures are in shape of a metallic arch covered by a textile wrap. “This system offers interesting area and storage height, without columns, which facilitates the work of machines”

•    Near to the berth

Thanks to this logistic platform, SOGEBRAS Company, wants to pursue its own development and be an asset to the strong activity of its head office in Nantes, who have 45 000m2 of warehouses in Cheviré zone.
It will allow supporting new activities such as “Sugar storage in big-bag, containers stuffing and unstuffing. We also offer surface for out of in bulk and out of container merchandises, heavy parcel and steel products”. According to Johann Feltgen, having closed warehouses and outside housing stock “allows possibilities to store a wider diversity of substance and goods”. One more benefit “we‘re closer to the berths which is interesting for the handling on board”. Besides the development of SOGEBRAS’ activities, “those warehouses contribute to the port development with the creation of new traffic, both in import and export shipment.
