These elements arrived from Viana do Castelo in Portugal, on board of Mv Nordersand, which is 100 meters long and has a capacity of 4.525 metric tons. Promaritime International, ship agent, has also organized the unloading operations of this new kind of products leaded by URA and Promar Handling . Two days and half of handling were required for the wind turbines parts with final destination Oise, France. Paul Hebert, from Promaritime International specifies: “Those parts in concrete are shorter: the unloading of the vessel is optimized and, moreover, the haulage from the docks to the wind turbine site needed less abnormal loads permits.” Regarding Mv Nordersand, built in 2004 and operated by Briese Schiffahrts, a German company, it is an accustomed to Rouen’s port. Its crew are used to transport wind turbine parts. Mv Nordersand has already imported 12.500 metric tons of these elements in Rouen docks, also carrying wheat and fertilizers during previous calls.
